Bracketgrams

Privacy policy

Effective October 19, 2026

This policy covers the public Bracketgrams website and the Bracketgrams iPhone app. Our public privacy contact is Graham Brackets, reachable at bracketgrams@gmail.com.

Your puzzle entries and preferences are saved on your device. The website also records first-party usage statistics. The iPhone app disables that usage collector. Both connect to our servers to retrieve content, and those requests can appear in server logs.

Saved progress and preferences

The website saves puzzle entries, your selected cell, completion state, and preferences in browser storage. The iPhone app saves these locally in its own app storage so progress can survive closing the app or updating it. The app also saves its current view and cached appearance settings.

The current public game does not upload your entered letters or a copy of your saved progress to a player account. It has no player sign-in or Bracketgrams cloud progress sync. The website may send a puzzle identifier and start/completion events as part of the usage statistics described below.

Local saves remain until cleared, removed by the browser or operating system, or replaced by the game. Device backups managed by Apple may retain app data depending on your settings; those copies are managed through Apple's backup settings.

Website usage statistics

After an interaction with the website, our own analytics collector can record a randomly generated browsing-session identifier; sections visited, such as Solve, Learn, and Explore; button/control identifiers; puzzle identifiers and start/completion events; event times and active time; a broad device category; and the hostname of a referring website when available.

We use these records to understand how the website is used and improve it. The analytics payload does not contain your typed puzzle letters, name, email address, or a complete referring-page URL. The analytics database does not store your IP address as an analytics field, although the same requests may appear in server access logs.

This first-party collector is disabled in the current iPhone app. The current public game and app do not include an advertising SDK or a third-party usage analytics service. This policy page does not run the usage collector.

Website analytics records currently have no automatic expiration and remain until manually deleted. Clearing browser storage or opting out does not erase records already received by the server. You can contact us about deletion.

Content requests and server logs

The website and app request puzzles, Explore content, Learn media, fonts, and appearance settings from Bracketgrams servers. Delivering those requests exposes your IP address to the server. Access logs can include the IP address, request date/time, requested address including query parameters, response status, browser/app identification, and a referring address when sent.

These logs and error diagnostics support operation, security, and troubleshooting. Routine web access logs are configured for daily rotation with 14 previous files retained; this is a rotation setting rather than a guaranteed deletion deadline. Other diagnostic logs and recovery backups can remain longer. Recovery backups currently have no automatic expiration.

Published game assets are served by Bracketgrams rather than embedded advertising or social tracking services. Following an external link opens a separate site whose own privacy practices apply.

Service providers and contact messages

Infrastructure providers that host and maintain the service process the technical information needed to deliver it. If you email us, your email address, message, and any attachments are processed through Gmail and retained for handling your request and related follow-up. Support correspondence currently has no fixed automatic deletion schedule.

Information may also need to be disclosed to comply with applicable legal requirements or protect the service. This policy does not cover information Apple processes independently for the App Store, TestFlight, device backups, or diagnostics you choose to share with Apple.

Your choices and deletion requests

We will review privacy requests and applicable rights. Some information may need to be retained for legal or security reasons. Recovery copies can retain earlier information after it is removed from active records; we will explain relevant limitations when responding to a request. Opting out or deleting an app cannot recall information already received.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change. Material changes will be brought to users' attention through the website or app as appropriate.
